Benfica have stated that they have agreed to transfer Darwin Nunez to Liverpool in a deal for up to £85 million (€100 million).

According to the Liverpool ECHO, the Reds are close to finalizing the acquisition of the 22-year-old Uruguayan striker from Benfica.

And in the early hours of Monday morning (0:44am), the Portuguese giants notified the Securities Market Commission of the transaction, which would see Liverpool pay €75 million (£64.1 million) plus a potential further €25 million (£21.3 million) in add-ons.

“In the early morning hours of this Monday (0:44 am), Sport Lisboa e Benfica – Futebol, SAD informed the Securities Market Commission (CMVM) that it had reached an agreement with Liverpool FC for the sale of all rights to the player Darwin Nunez, for the sum of €75 million,” Benfica said in a statement on their official sporting website.

“Benfica’s SAD further notified the CMVM that the deal provided for the payment of a variable compensation, implying that the total sum of the transaction might approach €100 million.”
